About Leading Edge Financial Planning

 Our founder, Mike Proctor, started his career in this industry the way that most financial advisors do: selling financial products for a big company. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he wanted to help people in a bigger, more personalized way.


Traditional financial advising, as Mike learned, is very product-centered. The aim is to sell you products that you might not even need just to help the company’s bottom line. Two years into financial advising for a large firm, Mike became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) so he could help his clients more effectively.


However, most firms don’t want their advisors to plan. Because of this, Mike spent over four years doing unpaid financial planning work for his clients so that he could really help them make the most of their money. In 2017, Mike finally started his own planning and investments firm, Leading Edge Financial Planning, from the ground up in Wichita, Kansas.


However, even while advising his clients in a more personalized and less product-centered way, his process was still centered around money. Now, Mike, along with his team, realizes that money shouldn’t be the center of a financial plan. Instead, you are. 


We each only have so much time to live our lives, so he wants to understand your story and what matters most to you. Only after learning about your goals and values can we effectively help you live a more fulfilling life and put your money to its best use.
